You get a flash on the screen when you power it on but then goes to black screen. So, I found that if you shorten the clip that keeps showing up black, eventually you will end up being able to render it. http://linux4newbie.com/black-screen/hp-laptop-screen-black.html

Are you looking for the solution to your computer problem? My guess is that there is some kind of W7-64bit problem with my hardware. I've got several small clips pulled together with a short transition between them.
then i added music ofcourse and cutted the video so it was perfect. and…there is no audio for my clips. (video->expand->audio) there isnt a mute choice either. Problem: some clips show as black screen (but with audio) in the final produced video. The sound is alright but the screen is pitch black.
Then completely black but with audio. VERY DISAPPOINTED. January 2013 I cannot remember the exact date, but I know it was in November or December, and I was working hard on a video project. make sure the audio was not muted when you published it.

I unplugged everything, tried to reset it, no good. As an amateur video and audio editor, I have a knack for figuring out how to overcome video errors. Give me an hour and I will write a detailed walkthrough on how to combat this issue. so i clicked it and still.
