So I removed the SSD.That is when I plugged in the old 250GB HD to at least get the system up and going. So no programs were installed except ones pre-installed by microsoft.

There's no option to disable it. Sometimes it will shutdown regardless weather I clicked shutdown or sleep but that means I got a BSOD of driver power state failure and then it just turns off. It's neat little trick to reclaiming 6-8GB of hd storage. Copy that url and paste it here in your thread.
