You shouldn't need to be at the machine to mirror a drive. Join over 733,556 other people just like you! Like, which prgm to use 1st - for initial disk diagnostics. I have seen a bad drive keep systems from POST'ing, occasionally it can stop the system from even powering on.
See here for more. Electrical/system failure is contraindicated by the drive apparently working fine after the system boots, but there's no other reason for it to stop the system from booting. Hopefully my situation is clear for everyone to get a good response.
